In ruins: c. 586 BC – c. 539 BC

Jerusalem: Burnt by Nebuchadnezzar's army (587 or 586 BC, the year is disputed); the exiles returned under Cyrus in 538 BC. In AD 70 Titus's army destroyed the city and the Temple; a Roman legion camped in the ruins until Aelia Capitolina was built c. AD 130.

And Joash the king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
