    Balak king of Moab sends princes to Balaam at Pethor by the River: "curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me". God lets him go, but only to speak the word given him.

    From the top of Peor, looking toward Jeshimon, Balaam blesses the tents of Jacob and sees the far-off king: "there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel". Then he returns to his place.
